From Mandy Scott (nee Malkin) 06/11/2011

I was sad to get the news of your Mum's death - but what a life she had. I shouldn't feel sad for, as you say, she is reunited with Splinter and she certainly led life to the full. I don't know whether she had been ill but I hope that her passing was gentle and without suffering. What a wonderful warm and enduring friendship our parents enjoyed. I must have been about 14 or 15 when we met in Ninhams Wood. I was fascinated by their life abroad and interested in their experiences. Next thing you were all off to the Netherlands. I was too old to be playmates with you kids but definitely missed the friendship of our families when you moved away. As your Father pursued his interesting career your Mum must have been such a support to him. She took it all in her stride and made the most of all the opportunities that came her way. (What a pity she didn't sort those Arabs out!) Pete and I were very honoured to join you all in Paris for the celebration of Dorienne's 80th birthday and not surprised to find her full of zest for life; enjoying her family and as always looking forward. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time and Pete and I send our love, Mandy
